Protect deletions with Recovery
Understand deletion rules, safety prompts and protected copies.
Review the deletion rule
Two-way sync can propagate an intentional deletion when the other copy has not changed. Mirror can remove destination-only content. One-way deletion behavior follows the task’s selected rule. Review the rule before running a task with important files.
Choose Recovery or permanent deletion
In Settings, select whether removed files go to Recovery or are deleted directly. Recovery is the default. Direct deletion removes that safety copy and cannot be undone through Recovery.
Confirm large deletion batches
Review the affected files when SyncKeeper asks for confirmation before a large deletion batch. Confirm only when the source folders and devices are present and the removals are intentional. Cancel and inspect if a drive or share is missing.
Modified versus deleted
If one side deleted a file while the other side modified its copy, Smart mode keeps a conflict rather than silently discarding the modified file. Open Resolve a conflict to choose the intended result.
Recovery protects supported operations according to its retention rules. Keep an independent backup for files you cannot afford to lose.
