Pairing

Connect two computers

Pair Windows and Mac computers using a six-digit invitation.

1. Open SyncKeeper on both computers

Connect the computers to a network where they can reach each other. Open SyncKeeper on both. Windows-to-Mac, Windows-to-Windows and Mac-to-Mac connections use the same pairing flow.

2. Enter the invitation

On the first computer, open Devices → Add device → Show invitation. On the other computer, choose Enter the invitation and enter the six-digit code. Use a fresh code if the previous invitation expired.

If discovery does not find the computer, use its displayed host IP address and port through the manual-address option. The app must remain open on the invitation computer.

3. Compare the verification words

Check that the verification words match exactly on both screens. Approve only when they match and you recognize the other computer. Reject or cancel the request if anything differs.

Next: share a folder

Pairing trusts a computer; it does not grant unrestricted access to its files. Add a specific shared folder on its owning computer, then select it when creating a Sync Space. Read Share and select folders.

Do not share an invitation publicly. Phone hotspots, guest Wi-Fi, VPNs or router isolation can block direct device connections.
